The pharmaceutical sector is the only career path I’ve ever known, having deferred my university studies in 2016 to look for work while figuring out where to go in life. Having scientific qualifications and few other options in the local area let me naturally gravitate towards working in the pharmaceutical industry, a direction which has helped me to develop many useful skills over the years.
After a short stint in Quality Assurance, I moved to an entry-level role in a Regulatory Affairs department in 2018. Even though the work began on a highly focused, low complexity basis, I found that this professional pathway allowed for plenty of space to innovate at every level. Very soon I found myself rewriting processes and enjoying the freedom to suggest, develop and implement new ideas to make the regulatory machine run more smoothly.
In the years that followed, I have been involved in many varied projects, including regulatory portfolio management, medicinal product website development, and database design, all while being responsible for implementing clinical safety changes to product licences. Working in regulatory proves that many problems have many valid solutions, and being challenged to identify, assess and select the best one for the task at hand can prove to be a satisfying experience. I was also able to complete my university studies remotely in 2022 after moving away from physics and more towards chemistry.
This journey has led to me joining Fusion Pharma in 2025. I am eager to focus more on growing my interpersonal skills as a point of contact for any industry professionals looking for advice and support. I hope that I can contribute towards Fusion’s successes.
