Investing in our strengths: What CliftonStrengths revealed about Team Fusion
At Fusion Pharma, we often say that we work with our clients as an extension of their team.
It is a phrase we use because it genuinely reflects how we approach our work: collaboratively, thoughtfully and with shared ownership of outcomes. Recently, as part of our investment in CliftonStrengths across the business, we were pleased to see that this way of working is not just something we aspire to – it is something that is already deeply embedded in who we are.
CliftonStrengths is a development tool created by Gallup that identifies an individual’s strongest natural patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. Used by more than 90% of US Fortune 500 companies, it provides a practical framework for helping people understand and develop their talents, both individually and as part of a team.
A team built on relationships
The team have completed their CliftonStrengths assessments, and one theme came through particularly strongly: relationship building. For us, this was both exciting and reassuring.
Exciting because it reflects the kind of consultancy we want to be. Reassuring because it helps explain why our client relationships are so strong, why clients trust us, and why many describe Fusion as a true extension of their own teams.
Why relationship building matters in regulatory affairs
In a regulatory environment where the detail matters, deadlines are critical and complexity is constant, technical expertise will always be essential, but expertise alone is not enough. Clients need to feel supported. They need clear communication, thoughtful challenge, calm problem-solving and a partner who understands not just the task, but the wider context around it. That is where relationship building becomes a real strength.
What our strengths tell us about Fusion
Our CliftonStrengths team insights showed a strong pattern around understanding people, creating psychological safety, thinking deeply and adapting around what matters most. Themes such as Developer, Empathy, Arranger, Learner and Intellection speak to a team that cares about progress, listens carefully, thinks things through and finds practical ways to move work forward.
Living our values through our strengths
This all feels very Fusion. It also mirrors our core values: Partnership, Tenacity and Curiosity.
- Partnership, because we do not want to sit outside our clients’ teams. We want to work alongside them.
- Tenacity, because regulatory work is rarely linear. Challenges arise, priorities shift, and the right path often requires persistence, flexibility and calm focus.
- Curiosity, because the regulatory landscape is always changing. We need to keep learning, questioning and improving so that we can continue giving clients clear, confident guidance.
Building on an already strong foundation
CliftonStrengths is not about putting people in boxes. For us, it is about understanding what already makes each member of our team valuable, and then using that insight more intentionally.
That might mean pairing the right people together on client projects. It might mean helping colleagues understand how they work best. It might mean giving the team more opportunity to develop, mentor, reflect and grow. It will certainly help us build on what is already a very solid foundation, and that matters – not only for our team, but for our clients too.
When people feel understood, supported and able to use their strengths, they do better work. When teams understand each other, they collaborate more effectively, and when a consultancy truly invests in its people, clients feel the benefit in the quality, consistency and care of the work delivered.
Proud of where we are, excited for what comes next
We are proud of what CliftonStrengths has already shown us about Team Fusion. Not because it told us something we did not know or believe – but because it confirmed something we see every day: Fusion is built on people who care deeply about doing excellent work, supporting each other and helping clients succeed.
This is only the starting point.
Now we get to build on it.
